PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Forrest School, Tadcaster School & Spotforth School – Bespoke Windows Projects
The Forrest School is a special school with severely handicapped/vulnerable children.
Sovereign were appointed this project via Jacobs (Building Maintenance Company for North Yorkshire Council). We had the challenge of adapting our fittings to ensure we left the existing timber head of each frame and replaced the 23 frames in UPVC, which were manufactured to size to avoid areas of the ceiling not be exposed due to asbestos being present. Works were carried out in July/August 2014 in timescale and budget.
Tadcaster School – Sovereign Group were also appointed to carry out the installation of 101 aluminium & UPVC windows/doors with associated works, during the School holidays July/August 2014 in timescale and budget.
Spotforth Primary School – Replacement of 41 aluminium windows, these works were also undertaken during the July/August 2014 School holidays in timescale and budget.
Specialist ‘bronze anti-sun toughened glass’ was required for each project – the coating reflects some of heat generated within a building so that it remains in the building instead of largely being transmitted through the window, thereby effecting a saving of heat during the winter, creating a more environmentally friendly condition, where air flow can be controlled via the teleflex windows. Classroom disruptions from external noise is also reduced by the improved sound insulation provided by doubled glazed units.
